#displacement-current

Is displacement current real? Do charges cross a capacitor gap? Showing I_d = I for a charging capacitor

I have been staring at the Ampere–Maxwell law for two days. A capacitor is being charged by a current I in the wire. I draw a loop around the wire. If I choose a flat surface bounded by the loop that the wire passes thro
